0:00
hi everyone welcome back today we are
0:02
diving into how to upload and manage
0:04
files in Autodesk Transition Cloud
0:06
whether you are using the web interface
0:08
or the desktop connector I will walk you
0:10
through the entire process step by step
0:12
all right first thing first let's talk
0:14
about uploading files to Autoex
0:16
Construction Cloud through the web
0:17
interface it's super easy so I will show
0:20
you how I would do it i'm going to click
0:23
on files in the left navigation menu
0:25
this is where all of your project files
0:27
live now let's say I want to upload some
0:29
files i will open up the folder where I
0:33
into i've got a folder called project
0:36
files here so I will just click into
0:38
that you can see there's already some
0:40
stuff in here now I'm going to simply
0:43
drag and drop the files from my desktop
0:45
into this folder see that super simple
0:49
if you did not want to drag and drop you
0:51
can also click upload files and browse
0:54
through your computer to select the
0:58
now let's talk about something really
1:00
important the file versioning let's say
1:02
I have just uploaded a file with the
1:04
same name as the one that's already in
1:07
this folder normally we would worry
1:09
about creating duplicates right but with
1:12
ACC that's not a problem watch this i
1:15
will upload a new version of the same
1:17
file what happen is ACC automatically
1:20
creates a new version rather than
1:22
duplicating the file this means I'm
1:25
always working with the latest version
1:27
without the hassle of hunting down
1:29
multiple copies also just so you know uh
1:32
if you are subscribed to the folder you
1:34
will get a notification every time a
1:36
version is uploaded so how process
1:39
uploaded files okay so here uh something
1:42
to keep in mind when you upload a file
1:45
once it's uploaded it's not quite live
1:47
yet acc runs through a couple of checks
1:50
before the file is ready to be viewed or
1:52
used post the uploading stage in this
1:55
stage SSA checks whether the file type
1:57
is supported and if there are any
1:59
network issues if everything looks good
2:03
the file shows up in the folder but you
2:06
might not be able to view it just
2:09
yet if something's wrong you will see an
2:12
error and all you have to do is uh click
2:15
retry once that's done we move into the
2:18
processing stage this is where ACC makes
2:21
sure that the file can be actually
2:23
opened in the built-in viewer if the
2:25
file persists you can open and view it
2:28
uh right here in the ACC but if it fails
2:31
and this usually happens for one of two
2:34
reasons the file is password protected
2:36
sec cannot open those or the file is
2:40
just too big like a massive PDF with
2:42
thousands of pages even if uh it does
2:46
not process correctly you can still
2:48
download the file and view it offline it
2:50
just won't open directly in the viewer
2:53
all right now let's talk about the
2:54
desktop connector uh if you are working
2:57
with uh larger files or need to maintain
2:59
a specific folder structure this is a uh
3:02
this tool is a gamecher let me show you
3:05
how I would use it to upload files i'm
3:08
going to open file explorer on my
3:10
computer now I will navigate to the auto
3:12
tech stock drive you can see it here on
3:15
my PC looks like uh any other folder but
3:18
but it's syncing with ACC in the cloud
3:22
now I will go into my project folder
3:24
just like uh I would uh on the web
3:27
interface once I am in the right folder
3:29
I'll drag and drop files from my desktop
3:32
in Android and the files uh sync
3:34
automatically to the auto construction
3:36
cloud no extra clicks
3:38
needed before we wrap things up uh
3:41
here's a couple of quick tips to keep in
3:43
mind when uploading files using desktop
3:45
connector if there's a naming standard
3:47
applied to the folder and your files uh
3:50
your file does not follow it the upload
3:53
might fail unless the holding area is
3:55
enabled also always check uh the sync
3:58
status in desktop connector to make sure
4:00
your files are fully uploaded and synced
4:03
you can see the sync status in the
4:04
bottom right corner of your screen if
4:08
disabled you will need to rename any
4:11
non-conforming files before uploading
4:13
them it's an extra step but it keeps
4:16
everything organized and that's it i
4:19
just showed you how to upload files via
4:22
the web interface and the desktop
4:23
connector you got any question feel free
4:26
to drop them in the comments below i
